Tomb of the Eldritch Sun
A downloadable game for Windows
This is a short game created for Matt Asplands Forgotten Places Game Jam. My very first Jam! This was a hard crunch for me, but I pulled through with the mechanics I wanted in the end. I created all levels, voice logs, most audio effects and assets by hand with the modeling tools in Unreal Engine 5.2, EXCEPT for a few from Quixel Bridge (Barrels, Vases, Rope, Treasure Chest) and all textures are used from Quixel as well. Come to the Tomb of the Eldritch Sun and discover its secrets! Can you find the four elemental stones to unlock the final door? Thank you for your time and I hope you all enjoy! Special shout out to Matt Aspland for hosting and to his Discord community for the help and encouragement! Y'all are the best!

I love the narrative. I'm pretty sure I read a Lovecraft short story that was at least very similar, but anyway. I actually didn't finish the game - after I beat the floor tile maze, I tried to take a shortcut back and was reset to the main menu. And some chambers, especially the one where you push the columns, felt so repetitive that I didn't really want to replay it. It's a great start but needs some polishing.
I respect that! I'm grateful for your time, thank you for playing what you could. I have a few quality of life improvements I'd be willing to implement, because it's garnered enough interest. I'll leave it be for the remainder of the jam, as this is what I was able to tackle in the time provided. However, I think a major change will be in the two rooms that even have a death barrier when falling off, it should just respawn you outside of that chamber with your progress saved up to that point, because I do agree, it can get pretty annoying having to replay all that ๐ The story was heavily inspired by Lovecraft and Egyptian theming! Glad you got that vibe out of it ๐ There is a touch more diologue after that chamber, but I'll update this sucker before you give it another spin (if you choose to do so) Thank you again, for your time! ๐ค๐
